When Harvey Mason Jr. took over leadership of the Recording Academy in 2020, and then officially appointed President/CEO in June 2021, the Grammy Awards have become a wonderful venue for the arts, a night when all genres of music are represented. February 1, 2026 was no exception.

Hope this time around was very high for the category of best Contemporary Instrumental Album, with Dave Koz and Bob James being nominated for their collaboration on Just Us. Unfortunately, it did not happen. Dave Koz has performed since the 1980s, with hit after hit, sold out shows in venues around the world and cruise ships fully booked. According to an Instagram post, he had approximately 3.8 million listeners and 23.3 million streams in total across all platforms for the year 2025 wrapped stats, suggesting a strong overall presence. He has been nominated 10 times, but has never won a Grammy. Why is that? To be honest, I am at a loss for words. However, in his inevitable, kind style, here is DK's time as a presenter at the Grammys and the day after. So let's just say that his 11th submission will win him a Grammy! As a side note, he was thanked and hugged by Samara Joy who won for Best Jazz Vocal Album, and host and actor Darren Chriss who introduced him as a presenter.
